An Untested Last Hope

An Untested Last Hope

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/05/16/us/20090516_untested/index.html

I think that the slideshow “An Untested Last Hope” was effective because it showed people the things that people with A.L.S disease have to go through. People who have A.L.S have a sharp mind but unfortunately they are imprisoned in their body, unable to talk or do what they intend to do. There is no cure for this illness so far but the family of the victim is willing to take the risk by giving a drug that may heal Joshua. The multimedia that is used in the slideshow was graphics, text, and audio. There were quotations and also text to explain the images. The slideshow compared photos of his flashback to the situation the victim is in right now. I think that the photos help people imagine how the illness has impacted his life. The audio makes people empathise with the family because you could listen to their expressions in their voices. I wanted to know more about how Joshua’s wife felt about her husband’s situation. Also, I wanted to know how Joshua actually got the sickness. The emotions in the images that I could see were fear, sadness, hope, and determination. Joshua’s family was determined to take a risk.

You could use multimedia slideshows in other classes to make a documentary about the subject you are studying. Audio can be used to talk about the subject, graphics to represent the information and text to give more details.

http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2009/08/14/arts/20090814-DOVE_index.html

1. What was effective about the presentation?

I think that this presentation showed us how amazing art can be and also the different ways art can be represented. Behind a creation of art, there is always a message behind it.

2. What multimedia was used?

The multimedia that was used in this presentation was text and graphics. The text explained what the graphics were and also described the person who made the art.

3. What did you want to know more about?

I wanted to know more about how the artist personally thought of their own art. For example, their inspirations and also which one of them they liked the best.

4. What emotions did the images evoke.

I think the images shows us that art can be represented in any way. There is no right and wrong in art, everything that a person creates with their own imagination can be art.

5. How could you use multimedia slides shows in any class?

You can use multimedia slide shows in other classes to represent information or also you can present using multi-media slideshows.

Capturing The City
Photos taken by various photographers

I thought that this slide-show was effective because it showed us how simple little things can be really thought provoking and remembered. The multi-media that was used in this slideshow were graphics and text. The graphics were the main multi-media in this slideshow and the text helped describe the photos. I wanted to know more about how the photos are expressed and what inspired the photographer to take the photos. The photos capture special moments of different occasions and make the photos memorable. You can also use multi-media slideshows in other classes to show a report by inserting graphics and text to explain the topic that you are researching about. Overall, I think that multi-media slide shows are a useful way to represent information and to help explain other people about various topics.

Analyzing Multi-Media Slideshows

PAUSE AND EFFECTS
The things that I thought was effective about this presentation was the perspective on how the phtographer took the photos. It made other people think another different way and also out of the box. The multimedia that was used in this presentation are images and text. I wanted to know more about the expressions and I think that if they added audio, it would have helped. The graphics showed us all the simplest little things that we people dont notice, and also how they effect our lives.
FORECLOSURE

I think this presentation shows people that Foreclosure can happen to anyone. People lose their jobs or have medical bills to pay which results people losing their houses. This presentation is like a "wake up call" for other people. The multimedia that was used in this presentation were graphics, quotations, text, and audio. The graphics help people visualize the emotions and also the situations that the people are in. I wanted to know more about how their families reacted to it and also more information on the foreclosure.

~Images are Worth a Thousand Words~

This image makes me think that there is a whole new world behind the trees. The light is shining and guiding you to a whole new world. This photo also makes me think that there is always something good behind the bad, for example the trees in this photo looks a bit dark and haunted but there are amazing things behind it, that you never knew would even exist.

This image makes me think about how beautiful and miraculous the universe is. The stars shimmer glow and it makes me feel like I'm special like the universe is. You may think that you are just a normal person, but the glow in you makes you special.

I think this image is different from the other images. When you look at it, it makes you feel calm and it also makes you think out of the box. It shows another perspective of the world such as the structures and buildings. I think all of the three images make you think in another way and perspective.
